Geometer Europas
The freelance surveyors from Austria, France, Germany and Switzerland united in Bregrenz in 1995 to form the “Verband der freiberuflichen Geometer Europas” (Géometrès expert fonciers Européens, abbr. GE).
This association, which complies with the statutes of Belgian law, has among other things the aim of establishing an organised association in order to support the freelance pursuance of the geometer’s profession in Europe with regard to legal and technical matters. see Statutes

They represent an essential element of the public surveying system in their countries. They assume responsibilities of land surveying, cadastral surveying and the documentation of land as well as they certify facts of land, carry out valuations of real estate property and assume responsibilities as experts in the surveying sector.
The association “Geometer Europas” has worked out a “Survey of the status of the freelance surveyors in Europe” (February 12th 1998) for its member associations informing about the education and qualifications, the conditions for establishment, forms of professional practice, etc.
At their annual delegates’ meetings the Geometer Europas exchange different
views and work out conceptions for the further development of the professional
group in a united Europe.
There are reports available about the following subjects: “The recognition
of professional qualifications in the cadastral sector within the European Community
and the situation of the appointed entrepreneur“ and “The acquisition
of information and the representation of interests in Brussels from the perspective
of a representative from the German “Federal Chamber of Architects”
(Bundesarchitektenkammer).
